Large Forager
Large Forager
The Large Forager is a roomy oval shaped basket made from river rush, field rush and willow bark. The opening is defined by a piece of thick bent hazel, and the other wooden elements are carved from walnut. The strap is hand woven from plant dyed wool. This bag was woven over a hollow beeswax mould, which was made by pouring the wax into a plaster mould taken from a hand modelled clay form. When the piece was complete, the mould was broken to remove it from inside the basket.
This basket is un-lidded, which makes it ideal for short foraging expeditions, and can contain a good quantity of fresh greens, mushrooms, or whatever you happen to be collecting! The strap is adjustable meaning it can be worn high up and close to the body, or lower down as preferred. This bag features a variety of hand foraged materials, combined with different weaves to create an eye-catching combination of colours and textures. It is very light weight but sturdy – a great companion in the field!
