This basket is made entirely from willow bark collected in South Devon, UK, with hand carved yew wood fixtures and textile elements woven on a back strap loom. It has an adjustable strap and leather belt loops at the back to enable easy and secure wearing whatever your height
Crafted over a one off hollow wax mould, this piece has a unique pod-like shape that echoes the rolling landscape around my home. In a process involving many hours of work, the willow bark has been stripped from young willow poles, and some of it has been further scraped and boiled to give a soft, reddish material ideal for fine weaving work. This bag is an homage to the beauty and generosity of plants, and an invitation to return to the land, building deepening relationships with the many living plants with whom we share this wild and ancient home.
