Forager Bag
Forager Bag
The Forager Bag is an elegant basket designed with the plant collector in mind. It is made from river rush and river sedge, with hand carved walnut wood hinge and fixtures. The strap hand woven from plant dyed wool, in colours selected to complement the natural hues of the weaving materials. This bag has an organically curved, pod-like form. It was woven over a hollow beeswax mould, which was made by pouring the wax into a plaster mould taken from a hand modelled clay form. When the piece was complete, the mould was broken to remove it from inside the basket.
The Forager Bag has one medium sized lidded compartment. The lid opens on a walnut hinge, and is secured using a wooden tension clasp design developed by Elizabeth especially for her baskets. This bag features leather belt loops and an adjustable strap, meaning it can be worn secured against the body while bending, squatting and reaching. A unique piece, expressing the beauty and versatility of natural, local materials, this basket is both a practical companion and striking adornment.
